March 10th Meeting for Clinton River Trail Bridge
I was just discussing this bridge with someone recently and said I didn’t think anything was happening with it due to the current budget crunch in Pontiac. I was wrong. Under Act 51, 1% of the road funding each city, village, and county receives must go towards non-motorized transportation. Perhaps that is the grant match funding source in this case.
There is a public meeting on March 10th to discussed the proposed bridge. Here is the press release from the City of Pontiac:
NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
CITY OF PONTIAC, MICHIGAN
CLINTON RIVER TRAIL PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE
OVER TELEGRAPH ROAD PROJECT
&
CLINTON RIVER TRAIL PHASE III
WOODWARD TO OPDYKE
The City of Pontiac is considering applying for a Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) grant for the construction of a CLINTON RIVER TRAIL PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE OVER TELEGRAPH ROAD.
The proposed Clinton River Trail Pedestrian Bridge over Telegraph Road and Phase III is a continuation of the master-planned Clinton River Trail that runs parallel to the Clinton River using abandoned railroad right-of-way.
The City of Pontiac will be holding a public hearing on Monday, March 10,2008 from
4.00 PM to 7.00 PM at Bowens Center, 52 Bagley, Pontiac, Michigan. The project plan, construction and other details will be discussed.
